She was de∫cended from an ancient and re∫pectable Family, Her Per∫on was graceful, her Education genteel, polite, and liberal; Yet was She happily free from the Levities and Follies, The Vices and Extravagancies of the Age; Was an affectionate Wife, a tender Mi∫tre∫s, a prudent Occonomi∫t, A ∫incere and con∫tant Friend; Of a very human and compa∫∫ionate Di∫po∫ition, bountiful to the needy And di∫tre∫∫ed, and after the Pattern of the divine Benignity,Kind even to the unthankful and the evil.
In Short,
For Piety and Virtue for ∫ingular and the mo∫t di∫tingui∫hing Meekne∫s and Mildne∫s, Amiablene∫s and ∫weetne∫s of Temper, for Benevolence and Charity, ∫he was a Pattern to her Sex. The∫e good Qualities rendered Her greatly beloved, By all who had the Happine∫s to know her, And her Death an un∫peakable Lo∫s to all her Friends.
May her Example excite and animate others to imitate her Virtues, In ∫ure Hope of the ∫ame glorious and immortal Rewards. She died (with decent and becoming Calmne∫s, Tranquillity and compo∫ure of Mind, And with exemplary Submi∫∫ion to the will of Heaven) October 16th 1768. In the 67th Year of her Age.
IN MEMORY of a truly excellent and intirely beloved Con∫ort, Her di∫con∫olate Hu∫band cau∫ed this MONUMENT to be erected.
