This work has been split into four volumes. The determining factor as to which volume an inscription will be found is the first letter of the surname of the first person on the inscription i.e.
Volume 1. Surnames A - D.
Volume 2. Surnames E - H
Volume 3. Surnames J - P.>
Volume 4. Surnames R – Z.
Each volume contains an index for all the persons included in it.
Many inscriptions refer to two or more persons, occasionally having different surnames. Consequently the inscriptions for a small number of persons will be found in volumes other than that suggested by their surnames. Hence each volume contains a second index identifying the location of the relevant inscriptions for persons missing from that volume.
The letter F has been used throughout to represent the "long S".
The final draft of this work was prepared in March 2000. At this time the most recent burials were marked with a simple wooden cross with a brass plate on which was inscribed the name of the recently deceased, the date of death and age. It has been assumed that these inscriptions are temporary but have been included for completeness. The burial plot of Robert William Cawdell, who was buried on 4th March 2000, was unmarked at this time. Any inscription relating to him is therefore missing from this work.
